COLUMBIA, Mo. – When Mizzou Wrestling opens its 2018-19 home schedule on Nov. 16 against nationally-ranked Virginia Tech, it will do so as part of Military Appreciation Night at Hearnes Center. The wrestling program is teaming with the Central Missouri Honor Flight, an organization that transports veterans to Washington, D.C., to visit the memorial dedicated to honor their service and sacrifices, for the first-time event.

The dual will begin at 7 p.m. inside the Hearnes Center and the team will have past honor flight members from each military branch serve as honorary coaches. Each member will be recognized at halftime, along with all veterans in attendance. Mizzou will pledge $1 from every ticket sold to the Central Missouri Honor Flight.

Joining the Honor Flight members at the event will be Rolling Thunder, Inc., a non-profit organization that helps publicize the POW-MIA issue in hopes of educating the public that many American Prisoners of War were left behind after every major American conflict. The organization uses motorcycle rallies to gain awareness and Mizzou Wrestling will have motorcycles circle the Hearnes Center floor pregame.
