
Goodwin Takes Third on 3-Meter at Tennessee Diving Invitational

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – Three Tigers advanced to finals and junior Kyle Goodwin (Aurora, Colorado) earned a third-place finish as the Mizzou diving teams opened action Wednesday at the three-day Tennessee Diving Invitational in Knoxville, Tennessee.
KEY PERFORMERS
Goodwin and seniors Kendra Kieser (Plano, Texas) and Madeline McKernan (Montgomery, Texas) all earned afternoon finals berths after their performances in preliminaries.
After taking seventh in 3-meter prelims with 343.7 points, Goodwin erupted for a finals tally of 394.15 to claim third overall. He did not score lower than 60.0 in finals and earned a 73.5 on his third dive of the final, a reverse 3 ½ somersault tuck. Goodwin's score of 394.15 was less than five points off his career-best set at the Mizzou Invite in November.
In the women's 1-meter competition, McKernan placed eighth with a finals score of 281.2, while Kieser took 10th with 268.85 points. The pair posted prelims scores of 264.0 and 275.6, respectively.
Senior Alexa Beckwith (Denver, Colorado) missed a spot in the final by two points after she finished 12th in prelims.
