COLUMBIA, Mo. – Mizzou Baseball beat Mizzou Softball, 15-3, in the second annual Fight Hunger Charity Game on Saturday evening at Mizzou Softball Stadium. Mizzou Baseball's offense was excellent in the first two innings, scoring eight runs, including five in the first. The defense was also there, as they didn't allow Mizzou Softball to score until the bottom of the third. The all-time series now stands at 1-1 between the two Mizzou diamond programs.
More importantly, the two teams put on an event that helped the Tiger Pantry, an organization that helps provide food resources and education to members of the University of Missouri family in need. The event raised over 750 pounds of food and over 750 dollars. All proceeds will go directly towards the Tiger Pantry.
"It's a wonderful event," Mizzou Softball head coach Larissa Anderson said. "It's a lot of fun, but it also teaches these young men and women the importance of giving back."
"This event is always so much fun, as our players and staff really enjoyed the game and atmosphere," Mizzou Baseball head coach Steve Bieser said. "Even more importantly with this unique contest is the cause behind it and supporting our local food bank."
