@MizzouGym Announces 2019 Schedule

COLUMBIA, Mo. - The Mizzou gymnastics team has released its 2019 schedule, Head Coach Shannon Welker announced on Friday. The slate includes five home meets and competitions with 13 teams that finished in the top 25 in 2018, including eight matchups with progams in the top 10.

COLUMBIA, Mo. - The Mizzou gymnastics team has released its 2019 schedule, Head Coach Shannon Welker announced on Friday. The slate includes five home meets and competitions with 13 teams that finished in the top 25 in 2018, including eight matchups with progams in the top 10. 

Mizzou's home schedule features matchups with Southeastern Conference foes Alabama, Auburn, Georgia and Kentucky and non-conference opponents Michigan, Minnesota and Centenary. 

The Tigers first hit the mat on Sunday, Dec. 9 in the team's annual Black & Gold exhibition. The meet will serve as the Beauty and the Beast event with the Mizzou wrestling team. 

Mizzou officially opens the season in a quad meet in Tempe, Arizona, against host Arizona State, Minnesota and Illinois-Chicago on either Friday, Jan. 4 or Sunday, Jan. 6. 

Following a road meet at Florida on Jan. 11, the Tigers open the home portion of their schedule on Friday, Jan. 18 against Auburn. The team then travels to Fort Worth, Texas, to compete in the Metroplex Challenge on Saturday, Jan. 26 against Arkansas, Denver and Oklahoma. 

Missouri returns to host a pair of home meets, a Friday, Feb. 1 matchup against Alabama and a Friday, Feb. 8 meet against Georgia. 

A double weekend follows for the Tigers, as the team heads to St. Charles, Missouri, to compete against LSU, Stanford and Utah in the Mardi Gras Invitational on Friday, Feb. 15. The squad then travels to Baton Rouge, Louisiana, for an away meet at LSU on Sunday, Feb. 17. 

After an off weekend, Mizzou hosts Kentucky on Friday, March 1 before taking on Southeast Missouri and Lindenwood at the annual State of Missouri Meet in Cape Girardeau, Missouri. The Tigers then conclude the regular season hosting a quad meet on Friday, March 15, when the team welcomes Michigan, Minnesota and Centenary. 

Postseason competition gets underway on Saturday, March 23 at the 2019 SEC Championship in New Orleans, Louisiana. 

The new three-day NCAA Regional format begins this season, with a play-in meet on Thursday, April 4, Regional on Friday, April 5 and Super Regional on Saturday, April 6 in six different locations. The advancing teams then compete at the NCAA Championships, April 19-20, in Fort Worth, Texas.
