Cross Makes England's Preliminary U20 World Cup Squad

COLUMBIA, Mo. - Mizzou soccer's Zoe Cross was named to extended England Women's U-20 National Team squad for the FIF Women's U20 World Cup, Young Lionesses manager Mo Marley announced on Thursday. Cross is one of 25 players on the preliminary team. The final squad of 21 will take part in a training camp at St. Georges Park from July 16-19.

Cross is one of 25 players on the preliminary team. The final squad of 21 will take part in a training camp at St. Georges Park from July 16-19. 

The U20 World Cup will take place Aug. 5-24 in the Brittany region of France. England will compete in Group B, and face North Korea, Brazil and Mexico in the group stage. 

A fixture with England's U-17, U-19 and now U-20 National Teams, Cross helped the Young Lionesses qualify for the U-20 Women's World Cup at last summer's UEFA European Women's Under-19 Championship elite and championship rounds. Most recently, she played was called up for April's La Manga Tournament in Spain. 

Cross saw action in 19 games during her freshman season and started nine in the midfield for the Tigers in 2017. She earned assists in games against Northwestern and Albany, and played at least 60 minutes in five different contests (Oregon State, Nebraska, TCU, San Diego State and Kentucky).
