RALEIGH, N.C. – Mizzou Men's Golf is tied for seventh at the 2018 NCAA Raleigh Regional after 18 holes of action. The Tigers, who entered play as the No. 8 seed, shot a 4-under par 280 on Monday on day one at the Par-71 Lonnie Poole Golf Course.
Mizzou is currently four strokes behind Santa Clara and Arizona State, who are tied for fourth. The top five teams advance to the NCAA National Championships. Head coach Mark Leroux's squad is making its 14th appearance in NCAA postseason play this week.
Playing in his first career NCAA Regional, freshman Jamie Stewart tallied six birdies in Monday's opening round and finished the round at 3-under par to lead the Tigers. Stewart's 68 marks his 14th round under-par this season and puts him at tied for ninth individually through the first day of action.
Senior Hayden Buckley fired a 2-under par 69, racking up five total birdies and shooting a 32 on the back nine. Buckley is tied for 15th.
Sophomore Rory Franssen got off to a hot start with a 32 on the front nine behind five birdies and finished his round at even-par. He is tied for 34th individually. Senior Trevor Ullestad is tied for 47th, shooting a 1-over par 72 on Monday.
Mizzou continues play Tuesday in Raleigh with a second round of 18 holes.
