
Stevens, Chadwick Named to 2017-18 USA Swimming National Team

COLUMBIA, Mo. – Mizzou swimming senior Hannah Stevens (Lexington, Ohio) and former Tiger Michael Chadwick were named to the USA Swimming 2017-18 National Team, the organization announced on Friday. Both Tigers made the team for the third-consecutive season.
Stevens made the team in the 100 back, while Chadwick earned a spot in the 100 free.
The USA Swimming National Team is comprised of the top six athletes in teach Olympic event from the combined results of the 2017 Phillips 66 National Championships, 2017 FINA World Championships, 2017 World University Games and 2017 U.S. Open.
"USA Swimming enjoyed outstanding performances across the board this summer at the FINA World Championships, World University Games and domestically," said Frank Busch, USA Swimming National Team Director. "It was a tremendous first year of the Olympic quad for Team USA swimmers, and these athletes will look to build on these successes as they approach the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo."
Stevens earned a spot on the National Team in the 100 back for the third-straight year. She finished fourth in the event at the Phillips 66 National Championships after a 59.74 time in the finals. Stevens went on the represent the United States at the 2017 World Championships and the 2017 World University Games. She took home three medals at the World University Games, a silver in the 100 back and a bronze in the 50 back, as well as a silver as part of the U.S.'s 4x100 medley relay team.
As a junior for Mizzou in 2017-18 Stevens finished third in the 100 back at the 2016 NCAA Champions. She owns 10 total All-American honors, with five first team and five honorable mention accolades She also claimed All-Southeastern Conference second team honors in 2017 with a runner-up finish in the 100 back at the SEC Championships.
Chadwick made the National Team in the 100 free after two years on the team in the 50 free. He finished fifth in the 100 free at June's Phillips 66 World Championships to claim a relay spot on the U.S. World Championships Team. In Budapest, Chadwick earned a gold medal as part of the United States' men's 4x100m free relay team, as he swam on the relay in preliminary action. The U.S. quartet of Caeleb Dressel, Townley Haas, Blake Pieroni and Nathan Adrian then notched a 3:10.06 in finals to take home the gold.
He concluded his collegiate career as the most decorated Tiger in program history in March. He is an 11-time first team and 11-time honorable mention All-American, with five of those first team honors coming as an individual, including four over the last two seasons. He finished second in the 100 free at the 2017 NCAA Championships in a school record time of 40.95, which also made him the event's fourth-fastest performer in history. Chadwick also placed fourth in the 50 free and 12th in the 100 breast at NCAAs and swam on Mizzou's third-place 400 medley relay, fourth-place 200 medley relay and seventh-place 200 free relay teams at the Championships.
