Wilson will serve as team’s new volunteer assistant coach
COLUMBIA, Mo. – Mizzou Volleyball alum, Emily Wilson, will join the Army West Point Women's Volleyball program as its new volunteer assistant coach.
"We're extremely excited to add Emily to our coaching staff," Army Volleyball head coach Alma Kovaci Lee said. "Emily had a great career at Mizzou and was part of one of the most successful senior classes in the program's history. We will have seven seniors next year and her mentorship will be incredibly valuable to our program. Emily is knowledgeable, energetic and a joy to be around. We look forward to having her at West Point!"
"We are really excited for Emily," Mizzou Volleyball head coach Wayne Kreklow said. "This is a great opportunity for her and we couldn't be more proud. Emily was not only an outstanding player, but is an even better person. Her positive and caring personality made her a great teammate and her work ethic and talent made her a great player. Emily had a big impact on our program and we will always be grateful for her commitment and dedication to Mizzou Volleyball."
Wilson competed in Tigers black and gold from 2011-14. She was a key contributor for one of the most decorated senior classes in Mizzou Volleyball history. Beginning in 2011, Wilson and her fellow senior class members helped Mizzou qualify for the NCAA Tournament.
Two years later, the same group of Tigers played a pivotal role towards the team's 2013 SEC Championship. In all, the Mizzou Volleyball senior class of 2014 accumulated 97 wins, ranking tied for second-most in program history.
Individually, Wilson became only the 14th player in Mizzou Volleyball history to surpass 1,000 career kills. The tall Tiger outside hitter received 2011 All-Big 12 Freshman Team honors and was a two-time Big 12 Newcomer of the Week recipient.
Following her playing career, Wilson transitioned to Mizzou Volleyball's support staff from 2015-16. For each of the past two seasons, she has served as the program's operations coordinator.
Wilson's fiancé, Stephen Carberry, is currently an academic support coordinator for Army West Point Athletics. Prior to joining the Black Knights staff, Carberry was a four-year student athlete with Mizzou Football. Following his playing career, he was a graduate assistant through Mizzou Athletics' Total Person program.
