COLUMBIA, Mo. - Missouri diver Lauren Reedy (Rochester Hills, Mich.) was named to USA Diving's 2017 High Performance Squad, the organization announced on Thursday. Reedy is one of 21 divers, including one of 13 women, named to the Tier I squad.
USA Diving's High Performance Squad includes divers who exhibit the skill and determination it takes to become Olympic Team members and compete in the Olympic Games. An annual review of the High Performance Squad is conducted at the end of each year, during which divers are evaluated on their overall competition performance and their dedication to their daily training.
Reedy, the 2017 Southeastern Conference Female Diver of the Year, concluded her Tiger career at the 2017 NCAA Women's Swimming and Diving Championships. At the meet, she earned All-America honorable mention honors on both 1-meter and 3-meter with ninth-place finishes. She also claimed the SEC 1-meter crown this season and claimed honorable mention accolades as a junior in 2015. She ended her career as Mizzou's record holder on both springboards.
Recently, Reedy qualified for this summer's 2017 FINA World Championships after winning the USA Diving Mixed Synchronized 3-meter national title with diving partner Briadam Herrera. The duo needed to win the event and score at least 284 points to claim their spot at the World Championships. They finished with a five-dive total of 285.66 points, which included scores of 66.96, 71.40 and 63.90 in the final three rounds.
