Tigers Play Sunday at Ole Miss
STARKVILLE, Mississipp – Mizzou (10-5, 1-3 SEC) couldn't find an answer against No. 41 Mississippi State (9-4, 2-3 SEC) as the Tigers dropped their third conference match of the season by a score of 4-0 Friday afternoon at the A.J. Pitts Tennis Centre in Starkville, Mississippi.
After dropping the doubles point, Mizzou was once again forced to rely on strong singles play. However, Mississippi State was able to string together three solid performances on its way to a quick 4-0 victory.
Mizzou received good outings from its freshmen. Tate Schroeder (Centennial, Colo.) and Mackenzy Middlebrooks (Fort Lauderdale, Fla.) each fought well in their singles matches. Middlebrooks won her first set 6-0 at the No. 5 position and Schroeder was locked in a tight match at No. 3, 6-7 (3), 2-1. Both players seemed poised for a pair of long, entertaining matches, but they were cut short after MSU clinched the dual.
Mizzou will look to rebound from this loss when it faces No. 25 Ole Miss on Sunday at 1 p.m. C.T. The Rebels are coming off of a disappointing result today, falling to No. 15 Arkansas, 4-0.
