Tigers Set for SEC Indoor Championships
- Mizzou Track and Field begins postseason competition at the SEC Indoor Championships, Feb. 24-25, in Nashville, Tenn. SEC Network + will broadcast a live stream for portions of both days as 38 Tiger student-athletes seek podium finishes in the Music City. Live results from the Vanderbilt Student Rec Center will be available through PTTiming.com.
- After an SEC Championship and NCAA National Championship in cross country this past fall, junior Karissa Schweizer (Urbandale, Iowa) seeks her first SEC Championship in track and field competition. The Tiger junior will compete in the mile run and the 3,000m run in Nashville. Schweizer currently holds three-top 10 marks in the nation this season, running the second-fastest time in the 5,000m run (15:37.40), and the 10th-fastest times in the mile run (4:35.61) and the 3,000m run (9:06.60). Among indoor program records, Schweizer's marks rank first in the 5,000m, second in the 3,000m and second in the mile run.
- Sophomore Kahmari Montgomery (Plainfield, Ill.), will look to make another surprise splash at this year's conference meet as he defends his 400m dash crown. As a true freshman in 2016, Montgomery captured the indoor and outdoor SEC titles in the 400m dash, finishing at 45.78 and 45.13, respectively. This season, the Tiger sophomore currently holds the 26th-fastest indoor 400m dash time in the nation at 46.57. Among indoor program records, Montgomery holds the school record in the 200m dash (21.03) and the 400m dash (45.78).
- Mizzou's women's sprinters appear to be peaking at the exact opportune moment, as sophomore Maya Cody (St. Louis, Mo.), senior LaQuisha Jackson (Chattanooga, Tenn.) and redshirt junior Valerie Thames (Milwuakee, Wis.) have all set top personal bests or meet records in their last time out. Cody, who will compete in the 60m dash and 200m dash, set personal records in those events at the Tyson Invitational (Feb. 10-11), crossing the finish line at 7.39 in the 60m dash and 24.31 in the 200m dash. At the Missouri Collegiate Challenge, Jackson set the meet record in the 400m dash at 54.28, while Thames set the school, meet and facility record in the 60m Hurdles with a time of 8.45.
11 Top-10 Program Marks Set in 2017
- So far during the 2017 indoor season, seven Tigers have posted 11 top-10 indoor marks in program history, including school records from junior Karissa Schweizer and 5,000m run and redshirt junior Valerie Thames in the 60m hurdles.

Eight Top-50 Times in the Nation
- With the NCAA Indoor Championships right around the corner, numerous Tigers have put themselves in striking distance of qualifying for the NCAA meet in March. Five Tigers and one relay team have posted top-50 times in the nation this season, with the top-16 times in the nation qualifying for the national meet.

Thames Sets School, Meet and Facility Record in 60m Hurdles
- Redshirt junior Valerie Thames stole the showat the Missouri Collegiate Challenge (Feb. 17), setting the school, meet and facility record with a first place finish in the 60m hurdles. Thames crossed the finish line at 8.45, .15 faster than her previous best and .05 faster than the previous school record, set by Alyssa Felton on Feb. 19, 2016 at last year's Collegiate Challenge.
Tigers Go 1-2-4 in the Weight Throw at the Missouri Collegiate Challenge
- Mizzou finished first, second and fourth in the weight throw at the Missouri Collegiate Challenge (Feb. 17), with all three Tigers setting personal records. Redshirt freshman Patrick Kunza took home the top spot with a throw of 19.22m (63-0.75), marking the sixth time this season he has improved his mark in the weight throw.
- Redshirt senior Ahren Bohanan finished second in the event with a mark of 18.96m (62-2.5), while redshirt junior Sean Harrell finished fourth with a throw of 16.52m (54-2.5).
Three Top-10 Marks, Four Personal Records Set at Iowa State Classic
- The Mizzou women's distance runners had a remarkable night on the track at the Iowa State Classic (Feb. 10) as four runners set personal records while three set all-time top-10 times in program history.
- Junior Karissa Schweizer led the way for the Tigers, finishing first in the 3,000m run invitational with a time of 9:06.60, which currently stands as the second-fastest indoor 3,000m time in program history and the 10th-fastest time in the nation this season.
- In the 5,000m run invitational, redshirt sophomore Jamie Kempfer and redshirt junior Nicole Mello finished fifth and 22nd, respectively. Kempfer's time of 16:05.23 ranks second in program history and 25th in the nation this season, while Mello's time of 16:41.15 ranks eight in program history.
- Redshirt freshman Jordyn Kleve set a personal record in the 5,000m run, crossing the finish line at 17:10.62.
Cody Sets Top-10 Marks in the 60m Dash and 200m Dash at the Tyson Invitational
- Sophomore Maya Cody set personal records and top-10 program marks on back-to-back days at the Tyson Invitational (Feb. 10-11).
- First, In the 60m dash, Cody set her personal-record in the qualifying heat with a time of 7.39, before recording a 7.44 in the preliminary round. The PR time for Cody improves on her already second-fastest indoor 60m dash time in program history of 7.40.
- Next, Cody recorded a personal record in the 200m dash, running a time of 24.31, improving her third-best indoor 200m dash time in program history by 0.21.
Lockley Wins 5,000m Run Heat at Tyson Invitational
- Senior Ollie Lockley finished first in the 5,000m run at the Tyson Invitational (Feb. 11), surpassing his previous personal-record by a full ten seconds, posting a time of 14:33.22 in the race.
Three Top-10 Field Event Finishes at Tyson Invitational
- In the field events at the Tyson Invitational (Feb. 11), sophomore Karissa Roman, redshirt sophomore Gabi Jacobs and redshirt senior Mollie Gribbin all recorded top-10 finishes.
- Roman finished third in the high jump, matching her personal record with a jump of 1.70m (5-7), while Jacobs finished seventh in the shot put with a throw of 14.81m (48-7.25) and Gribbin finished ninth in the triple jump with a jump of 12.05m (39-6.5).
Eight Top-10 Finishes, 11 Personal-Records, Two Top-10 Marks Set at Razorback Invitational
- Mizzou recorded eight top-10 finishes, 11 personal records and two top-10 all-time marks at the Razorback Invitational (Jan. 27-28).
- Junior Karissa Schweizer took home a first-place finish in the mile run, finishing at 4:35.61, the fourth-best collegiate time this season. The time eclipsed Schweizer previous personal-record by four seconds and ranks second all-time in program history, just behind Laura Roxberg's 2013 mark of 4:34.59.
- Senior LaQuisha Jackson posted the second top-10 all-time mark of the meet for the Tigers, running a 54.20 in a fifth-place finish in the 400m dash. Jackson, who already held the third-fastest indoor 400m dash time in school history, improved her previous best time by .20 seconds.
- Sophomore Kahmari Montgomery finished fifth in the 400m dash, crossing the finish line at 46.57.
- Mizzou had six athletes record personal records in the mile run and 3,000m run. In the mile run, senior Teylar Adelsberger finished at 4:54.32 and senior Bianca Mello finished at 5:11.89 for the women, while senior Luca Russo finished ninth for the men at 4:07.97. In the 3,000m race, senior Drew White shaved 26 seconds off of his previous best mark, finishing 12th at 8:17.31. Redshirt junior Marc Dubrick finished at 8:21.64 and redshirt freshman Jordyn Kleve finished at 9:50.76.
- In the distance medley relay, Mizzou's team of sophomore Thomas George, redshirt junior Jerrad Mason, redshirt junior Ben Goodman and redshirt senior Luca Russo finished fifth. The squad checked in at 9:54.80.
- In the field events, redshirt sophomore Gabi Jacobs and sophomore Karissa Roman each posted sixth-place finishes. Jacobs finished sixth in the shot put with a mark of 14.52m (47-7.75), while Roman finishied sixth in the high jump with a jump of 1.68m (5-6).
Cody, Thames, 4x400m Relay Team Set Top-10 Marks at Missouri Invitational
- At the Missouri Invitational (Jan. 20), Mizzou had three all-time top-10 marks set.
- Sophomore Maya Cody led the way for the Tigers, setting a personal record in the 60m dash for the second time this season by finishing first with a meet record time of 7.40. Cody, who already held the second-fastest 60m dash time in school history, improved her personal record by .08 from the Border Battle (Jan. 7).
- Finishing first in the 60m hurdles was redshirt junior Valerie Thames, who posted a personal record time at 8.60. Thames' time now stands alone for the fifth fastest 60m hurdles time in program history.
- Mizzou's 4x400m relay team of Cody, senior LaQuisha Jackson, Thames and senior Sydney Wells finished first with a meet record time of 3:47.64. The sub-four minute time was fast enough to rank second in program history.
Schweizer Sets 5,000m Run School Record
- Just two weeks after winning a NCAA Cross Country National Championship, junior Karissa Schweizer set the indoor 5,000m run school record at the Boston University Season Opener (Dec. 3) with a time of 15:37.40, surpassing Susan Bliss' 1990 mark of 16:33.30.
- At the time, the time was the fastest in the nation this season and the 15th-fastest indoor 5K time in collegiate history.
- For her performance, Schweizer was named the USTFCCCA National Athlete of the Week on Dec. 6.
