COLUMBIA, MO. – In the first batch of in-season Mid-American Conference Rankings, Mizzou Wrestling remains atop the conference in the November rankings, tallying 31 points while nine wrestlers were ranked in the top-four. Of the nine wrestlers ranked in the top-four, five ranked first among their respective weight class.
Under the current poll, Mizzou received 31.0 points, and was selected ahead of Central Michigan (20.0 points), Buffalo (10.0 points) and Ohio (10.0 points). Coming in fifth was Eastern Michigan (9.0 points), followed by Northern Illinois (8.0 points), Kent State (7.0 points) and Old Dominion (5.0 points).
Five Tigers; redshirt junior 133-pounder John Erneste (Kansas City, Mo.), redshirt sophomore 141-pounder Jaydin Eierman (Columbia, Mo.), redshirt senior 157-pounder Joey Lavallee (Reno, Nev.), redshirt junior 174-pounder Daniel Lewis (Blue Springs, Mo.) and redshirt senior 197-pounder Willie Miklus (Altoona, Iowa) ranked atop their respective weight classes. Erneste, Eierman and Lewis have all began the year 4-0 in duals, while Lavallee and Miklus have produced records of 3-0.
Ranking second in their respective weight class was redshirt sophomore 165-pounder Connor Flynn (Dardenne Prairie, Mo.), redshirt senior 125-pounder Barlow McGhee (Rock Island, Ill.) and redshirt junior 149-pounder Grant Leeth (Kearney, Mo.), while redshirt sophomore heavyweight Austin Myers (Alexandria, Ky.) ranked third. McGhee and Leeth each moved up one spot from their preseason ranking.
Mizzou will wrestle in its first team tournament of the season on Saturday, as the Tigers take on the field at the Lindenwood Open in St. Charles, Mo.
