Junior Emma Allen finished second overall individually
COLUMBIA, Mo. – Mizzou Women's Golf claimed its fourth consecutive Johnie Imes title Tuesday, posting a 3-under par 861. The team maintained a solid lead throughout all three rounds and ended the tournament six strokes in front.
"I'm just really pleased we were able to finish the way we did," head coach Stephanie Priesmeyer said. "I saw a lot of great golf shots the last three rounds. I think we need to be really happy with the win, but also take what we learn from this and clean up our short game a little bit and make sure we keep building our confidence."
ROUND TWO
Junior Emma Allen (Southampton, England) matched her first round of 4-under par 68 with a total of seven birdies. She tacked on her ninth career round shooting in the 60s and her fourth under-par round of the season. Senior Clara Young (North Berwick, Scotland) also had a strong start finishing 1-under for her first round of the day. Participating as an individual, junior Marit Harryvan (Winschoten, Netherlands) shot 1-under tallying her second under-par round of the fall campaign.
ROUND THREE
Allen finished her tournament with a second-place finish and a three-day total of 7-under par. The invitational marked her lowest three-round score of the season and second-lowest event of her career. This also was the third top five finish of her career. Sophomore Jessica Yuen (Bolingbrook, Ill.) had her fourth top 10 finish, finishing 1-under and tying for eighth overall. This was the third lowest score of her career. Junior Amanda Kim (O'Fallon, Mo.) wrapped up her first event of the season with a top 10 finish by shooting even par.
Participating as an individual, sophomore Cherise Otter (Bloomington, Ind.) recorded not only her first under-par round, but also her first career top-10 finish, tying for 8th and shooting 1-under. It was also the lowest 54-hole score of her career. Harryvan tallied her second top 10 finish and the lowest event of her career. This was her first under par event of the 2017-2018 season.
Throughout the tournament, Mizzou partnered with "Rally for Rhyan" to help raise awareness and funding for pediatric cancer research. Mizzou Women's Golf encourages people to continue donating and raising awareness for "Rally for Rhyan" at www.RallyForRhyan.org/donate.
"Working with Rally for Rhyan is always really special to us," Priesmeyer said. "Hopefully we can continue that initiative in the future with the Loos family. It means a lot to the players and coaches. Rhyan's situation is bigger than us and a golf tournament and she means so much to us."
