COLUMBIA, Mo. – Mizzou soccer junior goalkeeper Kelsey Dossey (Plainfield, Ind.) claimed Southeastern Conference Defensive Player of the Week, the league announced on Friday. Dossey earned her honor, the first of her career, for her play against LSU on Oct. 26 in the regular season finale.
Mizzou's victory over LSU, combined with other results from around the league, earned Missouri a spot in the 2017 SEC Soccer Tournament, held at the Orange Beach Sports Plex in Orange Beach, Alabama.
In a must-win match against the visiting Tigers, Dossey recorded her first solo shutout of the season and made 10 saves in goal to help Mizzou to a 2-0 win. The 10 saves were a career-high, besting the seven she turned away against Florida on Nov. 2, 2016. Dossey played all 90 minutes against LSU to post the seventh shutout of her career.
The Tigers open play in the 2017 SEC Tournament on Sunday, Oct. 29 against No. 7 seed Alabama at 1 p.m. CT in Orange Beach, Alabama. The match will be televised live on the SEC Network.
