
Middlebrooks Takes Consolation Title at ITA Central Regional

LAWRENCE, Kan. – For the third straight day, sophomore Mackenzy Middlebrooks (Fort Lauderdale, Fla.) won a pair of matches in straight sets to earn the consolation championship of the ITA Central Regional Championships Presented By Oracle.
In all, Middlebrooks won six consecutive matches on the weekend to win the consolation title. She began Saturday morning with a 7-6, 6-3 win over Minnesota's Camila Vargas, then beat Berta Masip of Arkansas State, 6-2, 6-1, to win the title.
For the weekend, Mizzou Tennis picked up a total of 23 wins at the ITA Central Regional: 16 in singles, and seven in the doubles bracket.

"I'm proud of Mackenzy for putting together a nice run to win the backdraw," said Head Coach Colt Gaston. "I know she expected a lot for herself going into this tournament so it was great to see her stay motivated and finish strong today."
