COLUMBIA, Mo. – Mizzou Track and Field continues its 2007 indoor schedule with the Razorback Invitational, Jan. 27-28, in Fayetteville, Ark. In one of the more challenging early-season meets, nine ranked teams will be in competition on the men's and women's side, along with 11 total Southeastern Conference teams.
The meet is slated to begin at 11:30 a.m. CT on Friday and 10:15 a.m. on Saturday. For the first time this season, fans who are unable to make the trip to Fayetteville will have an opportunity to see the Tigers, as portions of both days will be broadcast. Beginning at 6 p.m. CT on Friday, SEC Network + will provide a stream through ESPN3.com and the WATCH ESPN app. On Saturday, the meet will be broadcast live on the SEC Network beginning at 1 p.m. CT until approximately 4:30 p.m. CT.
Mizzou will have 15 student-athletes compete on Friday, led by the Tiger sprinters. Sophomore Maya Cody (St. Louis, Mo.) and senior LaQuisha Jackson (Chattanooga, Tenn.) will take the blocks in the 200m dash for the women, while junior Jonathan Holder (Trinidad & Tobago), redshirt junior Niager Mathis (Philadelphia, Penn.) and sophomore Kahmari Montgomery (Plainfield, Ill.) will race for the men. Cody has set three personal-records so far this season, including top-10 marks in the 60m dash (7.40) and 200m dash (24.55).
Five Tigers will compete in Friday's field events, including redshirt senior Ahren Bohanan (St. Charles, Mo.) in the weight throw and sophomore Karissa Roman (Kewanee, Ill.) in the high jump. Roman is coming off a personal-record high jump of 1.70m (5-7) at the Missouri Invitational on Jan. 20.
On Saturday, five Tiger individuals and one relay team will race in invitational heats, which serve as that event's marquee heat. Montgomery, the 2016 indoor and outdoor 400m dash champion, will race in the 400m dash invitational heat, which features four athletes who have posted top-10 times in the 400m dash this season. Redshirt junior Valerie Thames (Milwuakee, Wis.), who holds the second-fastest indoor 400m dash time in school history, will take to the track in the 400m dash invitational for the women.
Mizzou will have two athletes – redshirt junior Kaitlyn Fischer (Pevely, Mo.) and redshirt junior Nicole Mello (Columbia, Mo.) – in the women's 3,000m run invitational and one – junior Karissa Schweizer (Urbandale, Iowa) – in the mile run invitational. Schweizer, who won the mile run event at the Commodore Invitational on Jan. 14, will look to surpass her personal-record time in the event, which she set at the Tyson Invitational on Feb. 13, 2016 with at time of 4:39.87, the second-fastest time in school history.
After setting the meet record at the Missouri Invitational, the Tiger's 4x400m relay team of Cody, Jackson, Thames and senior Sydney Wells (Fort Smith, Ark.) will compete against some of the nation's best relay teams in the invitational heat. The relay team set the meet record with a time of 3:47.64.
Among the notables in Saturday's field events include redshirt senior Mollie Gribbin (Montepelier, Vt.) in the triple jump and redshirt sophomore Gabi Jacobs (Bloomington, Ill.) in the shot put. Jacobs has posted two first-place finishes in the shot put twice this season, including a personal-record throw of 14.88m (48-10) at the Border Battle on Jan. 7.
