COLUMBIA, Mo. - A total of 22 members of the Mizzou men's and women's swimming and diving teams will compete at the 2017 USA Swimming Phillip 66 National Championships this week at the IUPUI Natatorium in Indianapolis, Indiana. The meet, which runs June 27-July 1, serves as the selection event for the USA National Teams competing at the 2017 FINA World Championships, 2017 World University Games and 2017 FINA World Junior Championships.

2017 senior Michael Chadwick and rising senior Hannah Stevens, both two-time members of the U.S. National Team, headline Mizzou's contingent at the meet. At the 2016 U.S. Olympic Team Trials, Stevens placed fifth in the 100 back and Chadwick took sixth in the 50 free. Stevens currently ranks fifth in the world this year after she clocked a 59.40 in a meet in April, while Chadwick is 24th worldwide in the 100 free (48.69), but second among U.S. swimmers.

On the men's side, Mizzou's competitors include Nick Alexander (200 back, 400 IM, 200 IM), Chadwick (100 free, 50 breast, 50 free), Sam Coffman (100 free, 200 free), Carter Grimes (200 fly, 500 free, 200 back, 400 IM, 400 free, 800 free), Daniel Hein (50 fly, 100 fly, 50 back, 100 back), Caleb Hicks (50 breast, 100 breast), Jordan O'Brien (200 breast, 50 breast, 100 breast), Griffin Schaetzle (200 back), Micah Slaton (200 fly, 50 fly, 100 fly) and Alex Walton (200 back).

Women's swimmers include Sharli Brady (200 fly, 400 IM, 200 IM), Kylie Dahlgren (50 back, 100 back, 200 IM), Courtney Evensen (400 free), Maddie Gehrke (50 free), Rachel Hayden (200 free), Haley Hynes (50 back, 100 back), Erin Metzger-Seymour (200 free, 50 fly, 100 fly), Katharine Ross (50 breast, 100 breast), Amanda Smith (200 back, 50 back, 100 back), Stevens (200 back, 50 back, 100 back), Victoria Trost (50 free) and Kira Zubar (800 free, 400 free, 1500 free). Swimmers can register to swim as many events as they wish but are limited to only three to actually compete.

The top four finishes in the 100 and 200 free events, as well as the first-place finisher in all Olympic events are automatically selected to represent the United States at the 2017 FINA World Championships. That leaves an additional seven spots on the men's and women's teams. The roster is then filled with second-place finishers in each Olympic event (11). If spots on the teams remain, the highest finishers in non-Olympic events (four) are selected, followed by fifth-place in the 100 and 200 free, and finally sixth-place in the 100 and 200 free.

All prelims sessions will be streamed live on USASwimming.org. Tuesday and Wednesday finals will be broadcast on a one hour delay on NBCSN and live on USASwimming.org. Thursday, Friday and Saturday finals will be broadcast live on Universal HD, which is accessed via the NBC Sports app. NBC will air two two-hour taped segments on Saturday and Sunday at Noon CT.
