@MizzouSoftball Kirsten Mack Named 2017 NFCA Third Team Southeast All-Region

Mizzou Softball senior catcher Kirsten Mack (Riverside, Calif.) was named 2017 Third Team Southeast All-Region, announced Thursday (May 18) by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association. Mack becomes the Tigers' 15th all-time NFCA Southeast All-Region honoree since joining the Southeastern Conference in 2013.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Mizzou Softball senior catcher Kirsten Mack (Riverside, Calif.) was named 2017 Third Team Southeast All-Region, announced Thursday (May 18) by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association. Mack becomes the Tigers' 15th all-time NFCA Southeast All-Region honoree since joining the Southeastern Conference in 2013.

This marks Mack's first career NFCA All-Region honor, as she's enjoyed a standout final campaign in Tiger black and gold. Entering this weekend's NCAA Regional in Eugene, Ore., Mack possess an outstanding .340 average, 13 doubles, nine home runs and 37 RBI stat line.

The Riverside, Calif., native has been one of Mizzou's most consistent hitters all season. She currently ranks top three amongst all Tigers batters in average, runs scored, hits, doubles, triples, home runs, RBI, total bases, slugging percentage, walks and on-base percentage. Mack also paces the Tigers in multi-hit games (18) this year and is tied for first in multi-RBI contests (11).

Mack is regarded as one of the SEC's and NCAA's elite defenders behind the plate. This season, she has thrown out an SEC-best 17 baserunners, including a conference-best eight attempted baserunners in conference only action.

The Tiger senior will leave her named etched in the Mizzou Softball record books, as her 32 career home runs (tied for seventh), 993 career putouts (ninth), 86 career walks (ninth) and 123 career RBI (11th) rank among the program's all-time greats.

In all, 667 student-athletes from 175 programs across Division I Softball received 2017 NFCA All-Region distinction. The awards honor softball student-athletes from the NFCA's 10 regions with first, second and third team selections.

NFCA member coaches from each respective region voted on the teams and all the honorees now become eligible for selection to the 2017 NFCA Division I All-American squads. This year's All-American teams will be announced on May 31 via NFCA.org.
