COLUMBIA, Mo. – Mizzou Baseball junior RHP Nolan Gromacki (Smithville, Mo.) earned a spot on the SEC Baseball Community Service Team, announced Wednesday by the Southeastern Conference. This is the second consecutive season that Gromacki has landed on the team as he continues to set the standard for community service with Mizzou Baseball.
Community service is a big part of first-year head coach Steve Bieser's 'Commit to Excellence' mantra, and his team has embodied that over the last year. The team earned Mizzou's Community Service Award at the annual ROARS Awards earlier this month, given to the Mizzou program with the most community service hours. Gromacki was a big part of Mizzou's presence in the community as he continues to be an outstanding representative of Mizzou Baseball.
Gromacki's most notable community service endeavor this year was when he teamed with campus and athletic leaders to host "It's On Us" Night at Taylor Stadium in the hopes of raising awareness for the initiative that is trying to prevent sexual violence on college campuses across the nation. The team wore teal accessories to raise awareness for sexual assaults on campuses and 1,000 "It's On Us" shirts were distributed. Dozens of campus student organizations attended the game, drawing Mizzou's largest Friday night crowd of the year, with many being student organizations supporting Gromacki and the "It's On Us" initiative. His involvement with the organization was also recognized by the SEC as part of the "I Am the SEC" campaign.
In addition to his involvement with the "It's On Us," Mizzou's student government and the Student Athletic Advisory Committee, Gromacki was tapped into Mizzou's prestigious QEBH secret society this year. QEBH is the oldest of the six secret honor societies at the University of Missouri and members are selected based on selfless dedication to the University, excellence in personal character and leadership achievements in the community.
