COLUMBIA, Mo. – Class of 2017 Mizzou Volleyball signee, Dariana Hollingsworth-Santana, recently concluded a fantastic run at the NORCECA U-20 Pan American Cup with the Puerto Rican National Team.

Hollingsworth was tabbed as Puerto Rico's team captain, as the squad competed in the premier event from May 6-14 in San Jose, Costa Rica. Puerto Rico finished fourth overall amongst the nine countries in competition.

"We're very proud of Dariana," head coach Wayne Kreklow said. "The Puerto Rican team was very young, as they competed in the U-20 age group with several U-16 players. We were very pleased at how they competed and especially proud of Dariana, as she had to shoulder a heavy load. It was great preparation for what lies ahead for her at Mizzou. We're very excited for her to arrive in June and look forward to big things from her in 2017!"

In Puerto Rico's four matches, Hollingsworth tallied a team-leading 32 kills with two total blocks, four aces and 38 points. The future Tiger also paced her team in single-match kills three times.

"It was a tough tournament for us because we were the youngest team there," Hollingsworth exclaimed. "I think we did better than expected. We were extremely underestimated as a group, but I think after this tournament my team earned a lot of respect."

"For my upcoming career at Mizzou, I can say that I'm eager to get to Columbia and get started. This past Pan American Cup reminded me of the level I'm going to play at in a few months in the NCAA. I'm ready and I can't wait to begin!"

Success at major international events is nothing new for Hollingsworth, as she's competed with the U-18 and U-20 Puerto Rican National Teams in years past. At the 2016 NORCECA Championships, Hollingsworth earned "Best Scorer" honors in midst of elite competition.
