COLUMBIA, Mo. – Rachel Hayden (Indianapolis, Indiana) and Lauren Reedy (Rochester Hills, Michigan) of the Mizzou women's swimming and diving team both earned spots on the 2016-17 CoSIDA Academic All-District Women's At-Large Team, announced by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) on Thursday.
Hayden and Reedy now advance to the CoSIDA Academic All-America® Team ballot, where first, second and third team All-America® honorees will be selected later this month.
Selected by CoSIDA members, the Academic All-District distinction is given to student-athletes for their combined athletic and academic accomplishments. To be eligible for Academic All-America consideration, a student-athlete must be a varsity starter or key reserve, maintain a cumulative grade-point average of 3.30 (on a scale of 4.00), have reached sophomore athletic and academic standings at his/her current institution and be nominated by his/her sports information director.
Hayden, who recently concluded her junior season, is a two-time honorable mention All-America as part of Mizzou's 2016 200 free relay and 2017 800 free relay team at the NCAA Championships. She ranks fourth all-time at Mizzou in the 200 free relay (1:46.60), seventh in the 100 free (49.42) and eighth in the 50 free (22.67). Over her three-year Missouri career, Hayden has claimed 17 event titles, including six as a junior in 2016-17. She is a two-time member of the SEC Winter Academic Honor Roll and earned a spot on the SEC First-Year Academic Honor Roll as a freshman.
Reedy, the 2017 Southeastern Conference Female Diver of the Year, concluded her Tiger career at the 2017 NCAA Women's Swimming and Diving Championships. At the meet, she earned All-America honorable mention honors on both 1-meter and 3-meter with ninth-place finishes. She also claimed the SEC 1-meter crown this season and claimed honorable mention accolades as a junior in 2015. She ended her career as Mizzou's record holder on both springboards. A member of USA Diving's High Performance Squad, she qualified for this summer's 2017 FINA World Championships after winning the USA Diving Mixed Synchronized 3-meter national title with diving partner Briadam Herrera.
