COLUMBIA, Mo. – Following successful seasons on the mat, redshirt freshman Jaydin Eierman (Columbia, Mo.) and redshirt sophomore John Erneste (Kansas City, Mo.) were recognized for their hard work off the mat, earning National Wrestling Coaches Association All-Academic honors, announced by the organization. Eierman and Erneste's honors mark the third consecutive year at least two Mizzou Wrestling grapplers have earned the distinction.
Eierman, a communications major with a 3.1 GPA, earned NCAA All-American honors at 141 pounds in his first year as an attached wrestler by finishing fifth at the national tournament in March. Prior to the podium finish, Eierman captured the MAC Championship at 141 pounds on March 5. The Tiger freshman finished the season with a record of 29-7, with 16 of his victories coming by way of bonus points.
Erneste, a mathematics major with a 3.762 GPA, won the MAC Championship at 133 pounds and qualified for the NCAA Wrestling Championships for the first time in his career this past season. He finished the season with a record of 25-8, with 13 of his victories won by bonus points, including seven falls, which ranked second on the team.
