@MizzouTennis Travels to No. 5 Vanderbilt, No. 11 Kentucky This Weekend

COLUMBIA, Mo. – No. 48 Mizzou (10-8, 1-6 SEC) will face its eighth and ninth consecutive ranked opponents this weekend when the Tigers travel to No. 5 Vanderbilt and No. 11 Kentucky on Friday and Sunday, respectively. Mizzou takes on Vanderbilt at 4 p.m. CT on Friday and Kentucky at 11 a.m. CT on Sunday.

DOUBLES DOMINANCE:

  • In doubles play, senior Bea Machado Santos and junior Amina Ismail toppled Florida's ninth-ranked doubles pairing, 6-3, on Sunday. It marked Santos' and Ismail's highest ranked doubles win of their respective careers. Santos and Ismail recently cracked the ITA national doubles rankings, coming in at No. 64.
  • The duo has now downed three consecutive ranked pairings after a 6-4 win over South Carolina's No. 44 doubles team of Paige Cline and Hadley Berg on Friday. Santos and Ismail have three SEC victories and a team-high nine wins as a double team this season, the most of any Mizzou duo.
  • Mizzou claimed the doubles point against South Carolina on Friday and have done so in 11 of 18 matches this season.
  • Ismail's .667 doubles percentage leads the team. She has 57 career doubles victories. 

SCHROEDER PLAYING STRONG:

  • Freshman Tate Schroeder added another impressive singles win in conference play last Friday, rattling off eight of the last nine games to down South Carolina's Paige Cline, 7-5, 6-1
  • Schroeder now has 11 singles victories in dual play, the most on the team.
  • She has two wins now at the No. 3 singles position and is 18-10 overall this spring.

SCOUTING VANDERBILT:

  • Vanderbilt is 11-5 overall and 6-1 in SEC play this season.
  • Three Commodores have one loss or less in league play. Freshman Emma Kurtz is undefeated.
  • Vanderbilt boasts two top 12 singles players in the latest ITA rankings, with Astra Sharma coming in at No. 5 and Sydney Campbell coming in at No. 12. Sharma and fellow Commodore, Emily Smith, were tabbed No. 8 in the latest national doubles rankings. 

SCOUTING KENTUCKY:

  • Kentucky is 7-0 at home this season.
  • The Wildcats have beaten three Top-15 opponents in 2016-17, with the most recent coming against No. 11 Auburn on Sunday. 
  • Kentucky has three ranked doubles pairings, led by Aldila Sutjiadi and Mami Adachi, who are ranked No. 4 in the nation. Sutjiadi is ranked No. 19 in the national singles rankings.
