@MizzouGym Earns Highest-Ever Ranking at No. 6

COLUMBIA, Mo. – The Missouri gymnastics team clocks in at No. 6 in the first in-season RoadToNational's national rankings, released on Monday, to earn the team's highest ranking in program history. The current ranking surpasses the program's old high of No. 7 set on Jan. 30, 2006.

Mizzou, which entered the season at No. 19 in the preseason rankings, shot up to No. 6 following Friday's wins over Illinois and Ball State. In the meet, Missouri tallied a score of 196.225, the highest season-opening tally in Tiger history, besting the previous best of 195.350 set in 2016 and 2004.

National rankings are based overall season average score for the first few weeks of the season until switching to Regional Qualifying Score (RQS) in mid-February.

In addition to its total team ranking, Missouri also ranks tied for fifth nationally on floor, seventh on bars, tied for seventh on beam and tied for 16th on vault.

Individually, sophomore Madeleine Huber (St. Louis, Missouri) is the third-ranked bars worker in the nation after a career-best score of 9.925 on Friday. In addition, juniors Kennedi Harris (Atlanta, Georgia) and Becca Schugel (Eagan, Minnesota) both rank 22nd on floor and freshman Aspen Tucker (Lehigh Acres, Florida) is tied for 19th in the all-around.

Missouri hits the road for a pair of away meets this weekend. First, Mizzou heads to Fayetteville, Arkansas, to face No. 12 Arkansas on Friday, Jan. 13 at 7 p.m. CT in a meet broadcast live on SEC Network + and WatchESPN. The team then travels to St. Charles, Missouri, on Sunday, Jan. 15 to take on host Lindenwood and Southeast Missouri in the State of Missouri Meet at 3 p.m. CT.
