Luebbert earned SEC Freshman of the Week honors for the second time this season
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – For the second time this season, Mizzou soccer freshman forward Sarah Luebbert (Jefferson City, Mo.) was named the Southeastern Conference Freshman of the Week, the league office announced on Monday. Luebbert also earned the honor on Aug. 29 and is the first freshman to claim the award twice this season.
In Mizzou's 5-0 win at Ole Miss on Sept. 9, Luebbert notched a goal and an assist in the Tigers' SEC opener. She assisted on Missouri's first score of the match, the eventual game-winner, and tallied the team's third goal of the game less than three minutes into the second half.
Luebbert leads Mizzou with 13 points on five goals and three assists and has scored in five of the team's seven matches in 2016. Less than halfway through the season, she stands only one point and one goal away from entering the Tigers' freshmen top-10 list in both categories.
The Tigers are back in action on Thursday, Sept. 15, as they travel to Knoxville, Tenn., for a 6 p.m. CT contest against Tennessee live on SEC Network.
