COLUMBIA, Mo. - Mizzou Volleyball officially opens its 2016 campaign from Aug. 26-27 at the Kennesaw State Invitational. The Tigers are set for three matches over two days in Kennesaw, Ga. Mizzou will compete against host Kennesaw State, Pittsburgh and Liberty in its season-opening tournament.
The Tigers face Kennesaw State on Friday, Aug. 26, in their opening match of the year. First serve is scheduled for 6 p.m. (CT) and will broadcast live on ESPN3. Mizzou closes its quick tournament with a doubleheader on Saturday, Aug. 27. The Tigers meet Pittsburgh at 9 a.m. (CT), followed by a 4:30 p.m. (CT) contest against Liberty.

TIGERS PICKED FOURTH IN PRESEASON POLL
- The Tigers finished T-2nd in the SEC Conference Championship race in 2015. Mizzou was recognized as one of the top tier teams heading into 2016 as well, earning a fourth place predicted finish according to the SEC Coaches' Preseason Poll.
- The Tigers were only one of three teams to garner a first place vote (one) and one of four teams to accumulate 100-plus points in the preseason poll.
- The fourth place projected finish is the Tigers' highest slot in the Preseason SEC Coaches' Poll since 2014. That year's squad entered the campaign projected to finish in third place.
- Mizzou's other Top 4 projected finish according to the league's Preseason Coaches' Poll occurred in 2005, when it was picked to finish second in the Big 12.
KAN NAMED TO PRESEASON ALL-SEC TEAM
- Senior outside hitter Carly Kan (Honolulu) was named to the 2016 Preseason All-SEC Team, as announced on Wednesday, Aug. 17, by the SEC league office.
- The recognition marked Kan's third consecutive season with Preseason All-SEC accolades. Kan enjoyed another standout season in 2015, en route to AVCA All-Southeast Region and All-SEC honors.
MIZZOU GETS PRESEASON LOVE
- Mizzou has garnered love from multiple media outlets heading into the 2016 season opener. PrepVolleyball.com slated the Tigers at No. 17 heading into the season, while the Preseason AVCA poll tabbed Mizzou at No. 28 overall (third-highest team receiving votes).
