
Nadine Laemmler Claims 100 Back Crown at German National Championships

The Mizzou junior won the national title at the German Olympic Trials
BERLIN - Junior Nadine Laemmler (Wackersdorf, Bavaria, Germany) of the Mizzou swimming program won the 100m back title at the recent 2016 German National Championships and Olympic Trials in Berlin. The crown on the final day of competition concluded a successful meet for the Tiger, who also earned second-place finishes in the 50m and 200m back events earlier in the event.
Laemmler notched a 1:00.69 in the 100m championship final to win her first national title after endering finals seeded fifth after a prelims swim of 1:01.12. She also placed second in both the 50m back in the first day of competition with a 28.76 in fianls and 200m back during day two after a finals time of 2:10.49.
Also competing at the meet was junior Fabian Schwingenschlogl, who won the 50m breast (27.37), took second in the 200m breast (2:11.52) and placed third in the 100m (1:00.46).
Although Laemmler and Schwingenschlogl both earned the coveted top two spots need for 2016 Olympics qualification, both failed to record the required nomination times to make the German Olympic Team.
