Tigers shoot 297 (+9) in second round; Michelle Butler cards 71 (-1)
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Mizzou Women's Golf moved up two spots following the second round of the Seminole Match Up at the Don Veller Golf Course on Saturday. The Tigers shot a collective 297 (+9), led by a 71 (-1) by senior Michelle Butler (Dunedin, Fla.), which included three birdies and an eagle.
"The scores were pretty close today and we have a good chance to continue to move up with one round to go," head coach Stephanie Priesmeyer said. "Michelle was very solid and had another eagle. Emma [Allen] got hot on the back nine by chipping in on her 11th and 12th holes and had some really nice birdie putts."
Butler moved up 25 spots during the second round. She is tied for 19th individually (+5) along with sophomore Clara Young (North Berwick, Scotland), who shot a steady 74 (+2), finishing 1-over on both the front and back on Saturday.
Freshman Emma Allen (Southampton, England) finished with a 74 (+2) and was 3-under par on her back nine. She chipped in on both her 11th and 12th holes and had three consecutive birdies and four during a 5-hole stretch. Allen moved up 11 spots individually in middle round.
Junior Jessica Meek (Carnoustie, Scotland) carded a 78 (+6) to round out the scoring.
Mizzou (+30) is tied for eighth place out of 12 teams overall heading into the final round. South Carolina (+6) holds a 4-shot lead over host Florida State (+10). Furman (+12) is six shots back in third place. Maddie Szeryk of Texas A&M leads individually at 3-under while SMU's Jenny Haglund is one shot back at 2-under for the tournament.
The final round will be held on Sunday morning.
