
Chadwick Set for FINA World Championships

WINDSOR, Ontario - Senior Michael Chadwick (Charlotte, North Carolina) of the Mizzou swimming program opens competition at the 2016 FINA World Championships (25m) Tuesday at the WFCU Centre in Windsor, Ontario, Canada. Chadwick was chosen to represent the United States by USA Swimming back in November. Tiger assistant coach Mark Gangloff is also on hand as an assistant with the U.S. men's staff.
Individually, Chadwick is slated to swim the 50m and 100m free races, while also competing on the U.S.'s 4x100m relay. He opens his meet on Tuesday with the 4x100m relay, scheduled for 12:37 p.m. CT. Prelims of the 50m take place on Thursday, Dec. 8 at 9:49 a.m. CT and the 100m is scheduled for Saturday, Dec. 10 at 9:54 a.m. CT.
NBC Sports Live Extra will stream all morning prelims and Tuesday and Wednesday evening sessions. NBCSN will air Thursday, Friday and Sunday's evening sessions live on NBCSN at 5:30 p.m. CT, while Saturday's evening session will be aired on tape delay at 8:30 p.m. CT.
In the midst of the senior campaign at Mizzou, Chadwick currently ranks second nationally in the 100 free (41.80), fourth in the 50 free (19.18), fifth in the 200 IM (1:43.02) and eighth in the 100 breast (52.62). He entered this season as the most decorated Tiger in program history with a total of six first team and nine honorable mention All-America honors in his career. He placed fourth in the 50 free and sixth in the 100 free at the 2016 NCAA Championships, as well as taking fifth in the 100 free at the Championships in 2015. Chadwick owns Mizzou's 50 free (19.04), 100 free (41.80), 200 free (1:33.64) and 20 IM (1:43.01) school records. He is also a member of the 2016-17 USA Swimming National Team after a top-six finish in the 50 free at the 2016 U.S. Olympic Team Trials.
