Tigers finished Top 10 in three of four tournaments
COLUMBIA, Mo. – Last week (Oct. 23-25), Mizzou Women's Golf competed in its fourth and final tournament of the 2016 Fall season. The Tigers played well yet again, as they finished ninth out of 19 total teams. Overall this fall campaign, Mizzou placed Top 10 in three of its four tournaments.
Team Fall Highlights
- From Oct. 3-4 in Columbia, Mo., Mizzou claimed top honors at the 2016 Johnie Imes Invitational
- It marked the Tigers' third consecutive team victory at the Johnie Imes Invitational
- Mizzou's 864 team score at the Johnie marked the program's third-lowest all-time 54-hole team total
- The Tigers continued their success the following week at the Jim West Challenge (Oct. 9-10), shooting a 878 total score, marking the ninth-lowest all-time 54-hole score in program history
- Mizzou tallied two Top 10 all-time 18-hole team scores this fall (282 at Johnie Imes – seventh lowest, 283 at Las Vegas Collegiate Showdown – T-9th lowest)
- Since the Fall 2015 season began (1.5-year span), Mizzou has produced three team tournament wins
- The Tigers continue to show substantial improvement overall, as they claimed only three team victories the previous five years (Fall 2009 – Fall 2013)
Individual Fall Highlights
Sophomore Emma Allen
- Total 214 score at the Jim West Challenge marked the Tigers' lowest individual 54-hole score this fall
- Additionally, her 214 in Las Vegas marked the 10th lowest individual all-time 54-hole total in Tiger history
- Tallied a total under par score in three of four tournaments, highlighted by 2-under performance at Jim West Challenge
- Recorded three individual rounds in the 60s, tops among Mizzou golfers
- Placed Top 15 in the individual standings in three of four tournaments
- Her 6-under (66) in the first round of the Johnie Imes was T-2nd lowest all-time individual round score in program history
Sophomore Marit Harryvan
- Served as individual competitor in three of four tournaments
- Top performance occurred at Johnie Imes Invitational, placing T-8th in individual standings
- Shot 75 or lower in each of her final five rounds this fall
- Season-low 70 in the final round of the Las Vegas Collegiate Showdown
- Closed the fall with consecutive solid performances (E / 216 at Johnies Imes, E / 144 at Las Vegas Collegiate Shootout)
Sophomore Cayce Hendrickson
- One of four Tigers to earn a spot in the starting lineup in all four tournaments
- Shot 74 or lower in six total rounds this fall
- Tallied season-low 3-over (219) tournament at the Johnie Imes Invitational
- Placed T-19th in the individual standings at the Johnie, marking her season-best individual finish
Sophomore Amanda Kim
- Competed in two total tournaments this fall
- Made season debut at the Johnie Imes as an individual competitor
- Recorded a season-low 1-over (217) 54-hole stretch at the Johnie
- Placed Top 15 in the individual standings at the Johnie
- Earned first nod in Mizzou's starting lineup at the Las Vegas Collegiate Showdown
- Shot 72 or lower in three of five total rounds this fall
- Season-low individual round of 70 in second round at the Johnie
Senior Jessica Meek
- Earned starting bids in three of four tournaments this fall
- Consistent contributor for Mizzou throughout the three tournaments (221, 222 and 226 54-hole totals)
- Season-best 5-over (221) tournament at The Lady Paladin in Greenville, S.C.
- Tallied 75 or lower individual rounds seven times this fall
- Season-low 72 individual round score in the opening 18-holes at the Johnie Imes
Freshman Cherise Otter
- Made NCAA and Mizzou debut as an individual competitor at the Johnie Imes
- Kicked off tournament in style with 3-under (69) opening round
- Joined teammates Allen and Yuen as Tigers to record an individual round in the 60s this fall
- Concluded the Johnie with a solid 4-over (220) 54-hole total, placing T-21st in the individual standings
Redshirt Sophomore Mackenzie Perez
- Made season debut at the Johnie Imes Invitational
- Was forced to withdraw late in the first round due to an injury
Junior Clara Young
- One of four Tigers to earn a spot in the starting lineup in all four tournaments
- Concluded the fall campaign with three consecutive solid showings
- Season-low 5-over (221) 54-hole total at the Jim West Challenge
- Competed well in a shortened Las Vegas Collegiate Showdown, tallying 1-over (145) 36-hole stretch
- Season-low 70 score in second round of Jim West Challenge
- Produced six individual rounds of 74 or lower
Freshman Jessica Yuen
- Impressive in first year with Mizzou, earning a spot in the Mizzou starting lineup in all four tournaments
- Finished Top 25 in individual standings in three of four tournaments
- Season-best individual final ranking (T-8th) at the Johnie Imes Invitational
- Also shot season-low even par (216) at the Johnie
- Despite being shortened to 36 holes, was on fire at the Las Vegas Collegiate Showdown, shooting 5-under (139)
- Placed T-10th in the individual standings in Las Vegas
- Season-low 69 in the final round of the Las Vegas Collegiate Showdown
- Tallied 73 or lower individual rounds nine times this season, including top streak of six consecutive rounds (The Lady Paladin – Johnie Imes)
