
@MizzouSwimDive Continues Strong Performances at Mizzou Invite

COLUMBIA, Mo. – The Mizzou men's and women's swimming and diving teams won a combined 11 events during day two action at the Mizzou Invite Friday at the Mizzou Aquatic Center. Both men's and women's programs sit in first-place after one day of competition. The women have 927 points to lead Illinois (421), Wyoming (409), Drury (355) and UNLV (219), while the men have 915 points to lead Drury (463), Wyoming (430.5) and UNLV (269.5).
The Tigers set two school records and notched an NCAA 'A' qualifying time during Thursday action with career-best swims from senior Fabian Schwingenschlogl (Nuremberg, Bavaria, Germany) and junior Sharli Brady (Burlington, Kentucky).
Schwingenschlogl broke his own 100 breast school mark and posted an A cut with a 51.07 in morning prelims, a time faster than his national championship swim a season ago. The senior swam a 51.54 in finals to take the win, ahead of senior Michael Chadwick (Charlotte, North Carolina) in second in 52.67 and senior Eddie Mapel (Hinsdale, Illinois) in third after a 52.73.
Brady twice broke her 400 IM Mizzou record on the day. She went 4:06.04 in prelims and lowered the mark to 4:05.63 in finals, barely missing an NCAA 'A' qualifying time. Senior Ellie Suek (Eden Prairie, Minnesota) placed second with a personal-best time of 4:11.87, while freshman Jennifer King (Glasgow, Scotland) took third in 4:15.65.
In the diving well, redshirt senior Lauren Reedy (Rochester Hills, Michigan) earned the springboard sweep as the won the 1-meter competition one day after winning 3-meter. Reedy scored a finals round of 310.75 to take the victory.
Also with her second individual win of the meet was junior Kira Zubar (Chaska, Minnesota), who was victorious in the 200 free in a time of 1:46.80. Zubar led a Tiger top seven sweep, as junior Erin Metzger-Seymour (Westminster, Colorado) finished second in 1:47.12 and junior Rachel Hayden (Indianapolis, Indiana) took third in 1:47.49.
Mizzou opened Friday finals with wins in the men's and women's 200 medley relay. Both teams notched NCAA 'A' cuts, as the women's squad of freshman Haley Hynes (Lee's Summit, Missouri), senior Katharine Ross (Des Moines, Iowa), Metzger-Seymour and junior Hannah Stevens (Lexington, Ohio) won in 1:37.06 and the men's foursome of freshman Daniel Hein (Sycamore, Illinois), Schwingenschlogl and seniors Andrew Sansoucie (Wentzville, Missouri) and Chadwick clocked a time of 1:24.42.
The Tigers took both the men's and women's races in the 100 back. On the women's side, senior Nadine Laemmler (Wackersdorf, Bavaria, Germany) touched first in 51.03, just off her prelims swim of 51.01. Hynes placed second in 52.19, a time that ranks her fourth all-time at Mizzou in the event. Hein took the win for the men, with a finals time of 47.72 after a prelims swim of 47.16. Sophomore Alex Walton (Wilton, Iowa) finished second with a 48.13 and sophomore Griffin Schaetzle (Erie, Pennsylvania) was third in 48.58.
Freshman Nick Alexander (Crestwood, Missouri) dropped three seconds from his prelims time to post the win in the men's 400 IM in 3:45.20, which puts him third on Mizzou's all-time list in the event.
Mizzou went one-two-three in the men's 200 free, with sophomore Mikel Schreuders (Oranjestad, Aruba) earning the win in 1:34.67. Senior Nick Davis (Chesterfield, Missouri) was second in a personal-best time of 1:35.43 and senior Carter Griffin (Parker, Colorado) took third in 1:35.68.
In the women's 100 breast, Ross swam a season-best time of 59.54 for the win.
The Mizzou Invite continues with day two action on Saturday, Nov. 19, with prelims at 10 a.m. and finals at 6 p.m.
