Sophomore Emma Allen shines again for the Tigers

THE WOODLANDS, Texas – Mizzou Women's Golf completed its third tournament of the 2016-17 season on Monday morning at The Jim West Challenge. The Tigers collectively shot 14-over (878: 289-293-296) in the two-day tournament at The Club at Carlton Woods.
Sophomore Emma Allen (Southampton, England) paced the Tigers' individual competitors with a 2-under (214: 71-74-69) tournament. Allen finished T-15th overall in the individual rankings, including a final round 3-under (69). The outstanding 18-hole effort on Monday marked her third individual round in the 60's this season.
"We competed well in day one (Sunday, Oct. 9) and just had some tough holes today that really set us back in the team standings," head coach Stephanie Priesmeyer said. "This field had some of the best teams in the country and when you get that opportunity to play against the best you have to minimize big errors."
"We have yet to maximize our full potential but we are still very encouraged by the play of individuals on this team. Once we put it all together, this team will contend."
Junior Clara Young (North Berwick, Scotland) placed second among Mizzou golfers, tallying a 5-over (221: 71-70-80) two-day stretch. Young's run at the Jim West Challenge marked her top individual tournament performance on the year so far. Her first round 1-under (71) and second round 2-under (70) were her top-two lowest individual round scores this season.
Freshman Jessica Yuen (Bolingbrook, Ill.) concluded her personal tournament on Monday with a team-low even par (72) final round. Sophomore Cayce Hendrickson (Benton, Ky.) was one of three Tigers to open the tournament on Sunday morning with a 1-under (71) first round score. Hendrickson's hot start matched her top season-low individual score, previously set on Oct. 3 at the Johnie Imes Invitational.
