COLUMBIA, MO. – Mizzou Tennis travels to Kansas City, Mo., this weekend to open its 2016 fall campaign at the fifth annual Mizzou Invitational. The four-team event at the Plaza Tennis Center features Louisville, Nebraska, Memphis and Mizzou. Admission is free throughout the weekend.
The Mizzou Invite has no dual format, but rather individual singles players and doubles pairings will match up with opponents from each program. As a team, the Tigers took home four event titles at the 2015 Mizzou Invite. Mizzou's 2016-17 senior Bea Machado Santos swept the field at No. 2 singles with a spotless 3-0 mark and junior Brianna Lashway posted a 4-1 record at No. 1 doubles.
The Tigers are coming off of their best season in more than a decade after earning 16 total wins in 2015-16. Mizzou welcomes back four returners from that campaign, including two seniors and two juniors who boast a combined 292 career victories.
