COLUMBIA, Mo. - Mizzou Football strapped on full pads for the first time since 2016 #MIZCamp began as the Tigers practiced on Faurot Field under sunny skies on Monday. Both the offense and defense made spectacular plays during an energetic and physical session.
Sophomore QB Drew Lock set the tone for the offense, connecting on a pair of deep crosses to WR Jonathan Johnson and WR J'Mon Moore. WR Justin Smith added a tip-toe catch on the sideline to pick up a crucial third down and round out a solid day for the Tigers' passing attack. Mizzou's ground game also shined, highlighted by OL Adam Ploudre plowing the road for sophomore RB Nate Strong, who ripped off several yards on a nifty run up the middle.
During 11-on-11, the Tigers' defense gained momentum down the stretch. DE Charles Harris was a mainstay in the backfield on Monday as he applied consistent pressure and collected a pair of sacks. Meanwhile, Mizzou's secondary capped the practice with two impressive interceptions. First junior DB Logan Cheadle's quick reaction allowed him to corral a tipped pass for a pick. Then fellow junior DB Anthony Hines ended the day by jumping a route and coming away with a stellar diving interception, which led to an eruption of cheers from the defensive sideline.
