NCAA Regional - Game 5 Post-Game Notes

Junior RHP Cassie McClure made her first NCAA Tournament start tonight as the pitcher. She pitched a complete game three-hit shutout. She walked two and struck out seven for her 17th win of the season.

  • Junior RHP Cassie McClure made her first NCAA Tournament start tonight as the pitcher. She pitched a complete game three-hit shutout. She walked two and struck out seven for her 17th win of the season.
  • McClure retired nine batters in a row from the third to the sixth inning.
  • Senior OF Kiki Stokes has hit safely in each of her three games played so far in the NCAA regional.
  • Stokes scored her 200th career run in the top of the first inning, a new program record.
  • The run was Stokes' 58th of the year, tied for fifth most in a single season in program history.
  • Senior 1B Mattie Fowler drove in Stokes for her 44th RBI of the season.
  • McClure drove in junior 3B MJ Knighten with a sacrifice fly in the top of the first inning for her 23rd RBI of the year.
  • Knighten scored her 61st run of the year on the SAC-fly by McClure, tied for the second most runs in a single season in program history.
  • Fowler got the first multi-hit NCAA Tournament game of her career with singles in the top of the first and fifth innings.
  • Sophomore OF Taylor Otte stole second base in the top of the sixth inning. She has now stolen five bases this year in eight attempts.

BYU Game Notes:

  • Freshman RHP Olivia Sanchez made her NCAA Tournament debut pitching in relief of McKenna Bull after just a third of an inning.
  • Sanchez pitched 6.2 innings giving up only one hit and no earned runs while striking out three and walking two.
  • Freshman C Libby Sugg extended her on-base streak to nine games with a single in the bottom of the second inning.
  • Junior 1B Ashley Thompson got her team leading 66th hit of the season in the bottom of the sixth inning.
