CLEVELAND, Ohio – Three Mizzou Wrestling student-athletes were named to the 2016 Academic All-MAC Wrestling team, announced by the Mid-American Conference office on Monday. Redshirt senior 174-pounder Blaise Butler (Belvidere, Ill.), redshirt junior 133-pounder Zach Synon (Cary, Ill.), and redshirt sophomore 184-pounder Willie Miklus (Altoona, Iowa) were all honored for their outstanding work in the classroom for the 2015-16 school year.

Miklus and Synon are now two-time recipients of the award after earning the honor last season as well, while Butler earns the honor in his only campaign as a wrestler in the MAC.

The Academic All-MAC honor is for student athletes who have at least a 3.20 cumulative GPA and have participated in at least 50 percent of the contests for their particular sport. First-year students and junior college transfers in their first year of residence are not eligible for the award.

Butler had the highest GPA of the three Tigers who received the honor with a 3.60 GPA, as he pursues his Masters degree in Business Administration. Synon posted a 3.50 GPA while working towards his degree in Business Administration and Miklus recorded a 3.40 GPA in Psychology.

In all, 29 MAC student-athletes from eight MAC wrestling programs were honored to this year's All-Academic team.
