COLUMBIA, Mo. – The Mizzou soccer team will play five games, including four at home in Columbia, during the 2016 spring season, Head Coach Bryan Blitz announced on Wednesday (March 9). The schedule features a home matchup with FC Kansas City of the National Women's Soccer League and contests against Nebraska, Minnesota and Iowa State, as well as an opponent to be named at a later date
The Tigers officially open spring play on Saturday, March 12 as the squad hosts Nebraska in Columbia. The Huskers went 8-7-2 in 2015 and 4-5-2 in Big Ten matches and only lost two seniors from that squad.
On Monday, March 21, Mizzou welcomes two-time defending NWSL champion FC Kansas City to Walton Stadium. The Blues' roster includes former Tiger Kaysie Clark, who competed at Mizzou from 2011-14 and was a two-time All-Southeastern Conference first team selection.
Mizzou's third spring contest pits the Tigers against the Minnesota Golden Gophers on Sunday, April 10 at 11 a.m. at St. Teresa's Academy in Kansas City. The Golden Gophers posted a 12-7-3 overall and 6-4-1 Big Ten mark in 2015 and advanced to the second round of the NCAA Tournament.
On Saturday, April 16, Iowa State comes to Columbia for a 9 a.m. contest to be played on Faurot Field. In 2015, the Cyclones went 6-12 but notched five of those wins on the road in non-conference action.
Mizzou closes the 2016 spring season on Saturday, April 23 against an opponent to be announced at a later date.
