LEXINGTON, Ky. - Twenty-two Tigers opened up the two-day Rod McCravy Memorial Met on Friday, earning a pair of new All-Time Top Ten marks, two PR's, and an event win between them as the team begins to move into the heart of their indoor season.  Events at the Nutter Field House will resume Saturday morning at 10 a.m. with the conclusion of the men's heptathlon competition.

Getting things rolling for Mizzou was senior Ser Whitaker, who took to the track for his first heptathlon of the season . The two-day long event began Friday morning with the first four events of seven - the 60m dash, long jump, shot put, and high jump.  After taking third in the 60m dash, fifth in the long jump, fourth in the shot put, and seventh in the high jump, Whitaker will enter the final day of competition in fifth overall with a point tally of 2,784.

The field events were up next, with junior Lynnsey Brim highlighting the long jump competition with her fourth-place finish.  Her third attempt of 5.60m (18-4.50) was good for seventh overall coming out of the preliminary round.  She closed the final round with a leap of 5.74m (18-10), just under her PR from earlier this season and good for a fourth-place finish in the field.

The evening saw a short series of events on the track, starting with the 200m dashes and two new marks on the All-Time Top Ten lists for both men and women.  Freshman Maya Cody, who already owns All-Time Top Ten marks in the 60m and 400m dashes, now adds her name to the 200m dash record books.  She crossed in 24.89, the seventh-fastest time in school history, to take 16th in the field.

The men were up next, with sophomore Niager Mathis clocking a top ten finish in the field, winning his heat and taking eighth overall.  His final crossing of 21.83 is the ninth-fastest time in school history, launching Mathis into the record books for the first time.

The men's and women's 5000m runs also featured a pair of highlights, starting with a winning effort from freshman Jamie Kempfer, whose 17:11.87 crossing was good for her first event victory as a Tiger.  On the men's side, senior Jordan Cook led the squad with a third-place finish, crossing with a PR time of 14:33.90, a mere five-seconds off from the All-Time Top Ten list.

Events will continue at Nutter Field House Saturday at 10 a.m. ET with the final three events of the heptathlon competition.  Field events are scheduled to begin at 11 a.m., followed by track events at noon.  For the latest on your Tigers, stay tuned to MUTigers.com and follow the team on Twitter @MIZ_TrackField.
