Schwingenschlogl, Thomas Earn SEC Weekly Honors

COLUMBIA, Mo. – Junior Fabian Schwingenschlogl (Nuremberg, Bavaria, Germany) and senior Clark Thomas (Olathe, Kan.) of the No. 10 Mizzou men's swimming and diving team earned weekly honors by the Southeastern Conference Tuesday (Jan. 19). Schwingenschlogl claimed SEC Male Swimmer of the Week accolades, while Thomas was named the Male Diver of the Week.

COLUMBIA, Mo. – Junior Fabian Schwingenschlogl (Nuremberg, Bavaria, Germany) and senior Clark Thomas (Olathe, Kan.) of the No. 10 Mizzou men's swimming and diving team earned weekly honors by the Southeastern Conference Tuesday (Jan. 19). Schwingenschlogl claimed SEC Male Swimmer of the Week accolades, while Thomas was named the Male Diver of the Week.

Thomas has now claimed SEC Male Diver of the Week accolades five times in his career, including twice this season. Schwingenschlogl's honor marks his first SEC weekly award in his first year with the Tigers.

Schwingenschlogl, who owns ranks first nationally in the 100 breast this season, helped Mizzou earn a 155.5-141.5 road win at LSU on Thursday, Jan. 14 with three individual wins, while he also swam on the team's winning 200 medley relay squad. The junior swept both the 100 and 200 breast with times of 54.92 and 1:59.30, respectively. He also claimed top honors in the 200 IM in 1:50.62 and swam the breaststroke leg of Mizzou's winning 200 medley relay.

Thomas won one springboard and placed second on the against LSU. The Olathe, Kan., native scored a six-round tally of 362.18 to breeze to a 60-point win on 1-meter, then scored 356.48 points on 3-meter to finish second on the board.

The Tigers travel to Springfield, Mo., for a pair of road meets this weekend. The Tigers face Drury on Friday, Jan. 22 at 5 p.m. before a Noon meet at Missouri State on Saturday, Jan. 23.
