COLUMBIA, Mo. – Mizzou softball freshman pitcher Paige Lowary has been selected to the 2015 USA Softball Junior Women's National Team (JWNT), as announced by the Amateur Softball Association of America (ASA) and USA Softball.
The first-year Tiger will join the current USA Softball JWNT roster made up of 20 athletes from across the country. Lowary is set to begin competition at the World Cup of Softball X in Irvine, Calif. from June 29 – July 5.
Lowary enjoyed an outstanding freshman campaign at Mizzou, as she garnered 2015 Freshman All-SEC honors. The Dallas Center, Iowa, native posted an 18-7 record, 3.40 ERA, and over a strikeout an inning (164 K in 162.2 IP) as a member of Mizzou's pitching rotation.
Further accolades for Lowary included SEC Pitcher of the Week honors on Feb. 23 after going 3-0 with a 1.91 ERA at the 2015 Mary Nutter Classic, and SEC Co-Freshman of the Week honors on April 27 following a 3-0 record and 0.67 ERA stretch from April 20-26.
Lowary's selection marks the second Mizzou softball player under head coach Ehren Earleywine's tenure to make the JWNT roster. The first came in 2013, after current Tiger Emily Crane was also named to the prestigious team.
