COLUMBIA, Mo. - Former Mizzou soccer players Kaysie Clark and Dominique Richardson were named to the opening day roster of defending champions FC Kansas City of the National Women's Soccer League, the club announced. Clark was drafted by the team in January, while Richardson was a preseason invitee.
Clark was the 35th overall pick of the 2015 NWSL College Draft by FC Kansas City. A two-time All-Southeastern Conference first team selection, Clark amassed 53 points on and 15 goals and 23 assists and ranks 11th all-time at Mizzou in career points and tied for fourth in career assists. In December, Clark became just the third Tiger in program history to make an All-Region first team after earning a spot on the NSCAA All-South Region first team. She also claimed Big 12 Conference All-Newcomer Team accolades as a freshman in 2011.
A native of Fullerton, California, Richardson spent last season as a member of the Houston Dash but joined FC Kansas this preseason. She started all 82 games of her Tiger career, the most in program history. Over her four years, Richardson recorded 42 points on 17 goals and eight assists as she claimed 2012 All-SEC first team, 2011 All-Big 12 second team and 2010 Big 12 All-Newcomer Team honors.
FC Kansas City opens the 2015 season on Sunday, April 12 against Sky Blue FC at 3 p.m. at Sporting Park. The squad has nine additional home contests this season, all at Swope Soccer Village.
