#MIZvsMSU Post-Game Notes

Offense

  • Mizzou rushed 45 times for 215 yards, its most attempts and yards on the ground this season, surpassing the previous high of 42 rushes for 163 yards vs. South Carolina (Oct. 3).
  • Mizzou's 215 rushing yards were its most since rolling to 337 rushing yards vs. Minnesota in the Citrus Bowl (Jan. 1, 2015). 
  • Senior TB Tyler Hunt recorded 120 all-purpose yards (85 rushing, 35 receiving), bringing his season average-per-touch (25 touches, 340 all-purpose yards) to 13.6 yards.
  • Hunt's game included a career-best 85 rushing yards on a career-high six carries.
  • Senior TB Russell Hansbrough ran for his first touchdown of the season with a 14-yard rush late in the second quarter. 
  • Sophomore TB Ish Witter carried the ball 12 times for 81 yards, his most since running for 98 yards vs. South Carolina (Oct. 3). 
  • Redshirt freshman QB Marvin Zanders saw the first action of his career in the first half.

Defense

  • Sophomore DB Logan Cheadle recorded the first sack and tackle-for-loss of his career by bringing down MSU QB Dak Prescott 3-yards behind the line midway through the first quarter. 
  • Senior LB Kentrell Brothers notched his first forced fumble of the season and fourth of his career at 4:41 in the first quarter.
  • Brothers recorded 14 tackles on the evening, his fourth consecutive and eighth overall game with 10+ tackles.
  • Brothers entered the game leading the nation with his 103 tackles and has run his tally of stops to 117.
  • Junior LB Donavin Newsom forced Mizzou's second fumble of the night early in the second quarter. It was Newsom's first of the season and third of his career.
  • Freshman DT Terry Beckner Jr. recovered the Brothers forced fumble for the first recovery of his career. Sophomore S Thomas Wilson recovered the Newsom fumble, also the first of his career. 
  • Sophomore SS Anthony Sherrils recorded his second tackle-for-loss of the season midway through the second quarter.
  • Junior CB Aarion Penton broke up his team-leading seventh pass with 9:03 remaining in the second quarter.
  • Mizzou recovered two fumbles on the evening for the first time this season. It was the first time that Mizzou came away with multiple fumble recoveries since recovering three in last year's Citrus Bowl against Minnesota on Jan. 1, 2015. Mizzou has forced multiple fumbles three times this season but had yet to come away with more than one recovery until Thursday's contest.
  • Sophomore DE Charles Harris notched his fourth consecutive game with a tackle-for-loss with 1.5 on the night. Harris has 17.0 tackles-for-loss on the season.

Special Teams

  • Brothers recorded his second blocked punt of the season with 8:54 left in the second quarter. Brothers also blocked a punt on Sept. 5 vs. SEMO and blocked an extra point on Sept. 19 vs. Connecticut. His three total blocks are currently tied for the NCAA lead.
  • Sophomore TE Jason Reese fielded a kick for the first time in his career in the first half.
  • Senior PK Andrew Baggett scored seven points with two successful field goal tries (31, 35 yards) and an extra point to move to just 19 points shy of becoming Mizzou's all-time leading scorer.
