COLUMBIA, Mo. - Mizzou head soccer coach Bryan Blitz announced that Kelsey Dossey (Plainfield, Ind.), a National Soccer Coaches Association of America High School All-American goalkeeper, has signed with the Tiger program. Dossey, who recently attended U.S. Soccer's Women's Youth National Team Goalkeeper Camp, is already enrolled at the University of Missouri and attending classes this semester and will participate in Mizzou's spring season.
"We are excited about Kelsey joining our team in the spring," Blitz said. "She's able to work and train with our coaches and team during the spring season. She has a bright future ahead of her."
In December, Dossey was one of 16 goalkeepers invited to attend U.S. Soccer's Women's Youth National Team Goalkeeper Camp in Chula Vista, Calif. The camp brought a group of keepers from the U-20 and U-17 levels to evaluate the technical, biomechanical, psychological, social and physical attributes for long-term development of the top goalkeepers in the Youth National Team player pools.
"When I stepped foot on the campus, it was love at first sight," Dossey said. "It was everything I could ever wish for in a school and more, amazing facilities, nice people, great soccer, awesome coaches and just a beautiful campus!"
Dossey was also one of three goalkeepers named to the 2014 Girls High School All-America Game but could not play in the exhibition after selection to the U.S. Goalkeeper Camp.
A four-year starter at Avon High School, Dossey earned NSCAA All-America honors and was named the NSCAA and Indiana Soccer Coaches Association (ISCA) Indiana Player of the Year in 2014 after her senior season. She posted a 54-8-12 record as a starter at Avon in her career, with an Indiana high school record 51 shutouts. Dossey's had a career goals against average of 0.45, including a 0.29 average her freshman season. Avon claimed the 2013 state title and was ranked as the top team in Indiana at points during her junior and senior seasons.
Dossey competed for the Indiana Fire Juniors and Zionsville Youth Soccer Association at the club level. She helped the clubs to the 2014 Midwest Regional League Premium championship and the 2013 Jefferson Cup title.
