Tennis Drops Road Contest At TCU, 5-2

FORT WORTH, Texas - Mizzou tennis closed out their weekend in the state of Texas Sunday morning, and dropped a 5-2 match at Texas Christian University. The Tigers dropped to .500 (1-1) on the young Spring 2015 season.
Mizzou earned two wins on the day in singles play, as sophomores Cassidy Spearman and Beatriz Machado Santos each tallied victories. In the No. 5 matchup, Spearman cruised to a win (6-2, 6-2) over Alexis Pereira while Santos produced the final Tiger outcome of the day at No. 6 play (2-6, 5-3, retired).
Sunday's action began at doubles play inside the Bayard H. Friedman Tennis Center. The Horned Frogs picked up two quick wins to earn the one team point. Heading to singles, TCU continued their winning ways against the Tigers and earned wins in four-of-six contests.
Spearman has had an outstanding start to the spring campaign, as she has gone a perfect 4-0 (2-0 singles, 2-0 doubles) so far against the competition. Santos' singles win today marked her first of the spring season.
The Tigers are in action next on Wednesday, Jan. 28 with a home doubleheader against Northern Iowa and SIU-Edwardsville. Tennis action is set for 12 p.m. (CT) and 5 p.m. (CT) against the Panthers and Cougars, respectively.
