@MUWomensGolf Begins Lady Paladin Invitational in South Carolina

Mizzou Women's Golf will compete in the Lady Paladin Invitational hosted by Furman University from Sunday through Tuesday.

GREENVILLE, S.C. – Mizzou Women's Golf will compete in the Lady Paladin Invitational hosted by Furman University from Sunday through Tuesday. The field includes Brown, Clemson, Coastal Carolina, Columbia, East Tennessee State, Georgetown, Georgia Southern, James Madison, Kennesaw State, New Mexico, North Carolina, Samford, Virginia Tech, Wake Forest and Wofford.

Tee times begin at 7:51 a.m. CT off of the No. 1 and No. 10 tees on Sunday while Monday features an 8 a.m. CT shotgun start. This marks the first time Mizzou has participated in this invitational.

The Tigers starting lineup will be Michelle Butler, Emma Allen, Clara Young, Jessica Meek and Haelena Schwemmer.

Mizzou had a strong start to the season so far by placing sixth in the Sunflower Invitational hosted by Kansas State at the beginning of September. As a team, the Tigers shot a 3-under par 285 in the final round. All six competitors shot 75 or lower in the last round of the invitational.

Throughout the Lady Paladin Invitational, Mizzou is also participating in Furman's fundraising event "Golf Fore Africa" which is a non-profit organization that raises money to help provide access to clean water for 50 percent of rural Zambia. The event named "Birdies for Water" allows donors to either directly donate or pledge donations for every birdie the team makes throughout the tournament. Last year, "Birdies for Water" raised over $30,000 for the villagers of Zambia.
