COLUMBIA, Mo. - Freshman John Warren has officially closed his debut season as a Tiger this weekend with a trip to Edmonton, Canada, where he was outfitted in the red, white, and blue for the Pan American Junior Championships.  The triple jumper was one of 86 young athletes from across the country to represent the U.S. during the 18th running of the meet, which features national teams from throughout the Americas and Caribbean.

Warren, who won the USATF Junior Championships in the triple jump with the No. 4 mark in Mizzou history (16.00m // 52-6) only two weeks after earning a Second Team All-American honor, entered the weekend ranked fifth in the field.  He closed the competition in fifth overall, hitting a top mark of 15.88m (52-1.25).

It was quite an exciting season for the freshman from Prince George, Va.  A consistent All-Time Top Ten performer, Warren holds record book marks for both the indoor and outdoor triple jump.  He closed his season with an 11th-place finish at the NCAA Championships, hitting a PR of 15.99m (52-5.50) on his second attempt during the preliminary round.  He went on to best that mark by half-an-inch at the USATF Junior Championships, eclipsing the rest of the field by almost five-inches.

The Tigers will briefly suspend competition for the remainder of the summer before launching into the cross country season in September.  For the latest on Mizzou Track & Field, stay tuned to MUTigers.com and follow the team on Twitter @MIZ_TrackField.
