COLUMBIA, Mo. – Mizzou volleyball produced their highest team GPA in over a decade this past season and were once again honored by the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) for their outstanding academics, as they received the 2014-15 AVCA Team Academic Award.

The award, which was initiated in the 1992-93 academic year, honors collegiate and high school volleyball teams that displayed excellence in the classroom during the school year by maintaining at least a 3.30 cumulative team grade-point average on a 4.0 scale or a 4.10 cumulative team GPA on a 5.0 scale.

NCAA Division I recorded their highest-ever total number of AVCA Team Academic Award recipients, honoring 146 programs for the 2014-15 season. The number tops last year's previous record of 134 programs.

"I'm so proud of our ladies' dedication and hard work in the classroom this past season," head coach Wayne Kreklow said. "This is the team's second straight season earning this outstanding award, and it really shows how important academics are to this program. Everyone on the roster last season contributed to this award, and they should all be very proud of their accomplishments."

The Mizzou volleyball roster of 14 ladies posted a Spring 2015 semester of GPA of 3.55, and finished with a cumulative 3.51 GPA during the 2014-15 academic year. According to Mizzou's Total Person Program (TPP), the 3.55 Spring semester GPA is the highest as a program since 2004, and it was also the top mark among all Mizzou Athletics programs during the semester.
