COLUMBIA, Mo. - Head Coach Bryan Blitz and the Mizzou soccer team announced its tentative 2015 schedule on Thursday, which is highlighted by three nationally televised games, 10 home contests and regular season matchups with five teams that qualified for the 2014 NCAA Tournament.
The Tigers will appear on national television three times in 2015, including a league-high two matches on ESPNU. The faces both South Carolina (Sunday, Sept. 20) and Tennessee (Sunday, Oct. 18) on ESPNU, while taking on Texas A&M (Thursday, Oct. 29) on the SEC Network. Mizzou's SEC Network + schedule will be announced at a later date.
After exhibition contests at 2014 NCAA quarterfinalist UCLA on Aug. 12 and against Southeastern Conference foe Arkansas in Kansas City on Aug. 15, the Tigers officially open the 2015 season at home on Friday, Aug. 21 against TCU. The squad then hosts SMU on Sunday, Aug. 23. Mizzou earned wins over both TCU and SMU last season, posting a 2-1 overtime victory at TCU and a 3-1 win at SMU early in the season.
The Tigers then travel to West Lafayette, Ind., to participate in the Boilermaker Challenge Cup, where Mizzou faces Indiana on Friday, Aug. 28 before taking on host Purdue on Sunday, Aug. 30. The Tigers own identical 3-2 marks against both the Hoosiers and the Boilermakers. Mizzou last faced Indiana in 2005 and Purdue in 2011.
On Friday, Sept. 4, the Tigers return to Walton Stadium to play host to Oregon State in the first-ever meeting between the two sides. Following that matchup, Mizzou travels to face Northwestern on Sunday, Sept. 6 in Evanston, Ill. The Tigers own a 4-3-1 edge in the all-time series and are 2-1-1 in games played in Evanston.
Missouri opens its 11-match SEC schedule on Friday, Sept. 11 at home against the Auburn Tigers before Mizzou closes out non-conference action on Sunday, Sept. 13 against Nebraska at Walton Stadium. The Sunday contest between Mizzou and Nebraska is the first meeting between the former conference foes since 2010.
Mizzou makes its 2015 national television debut on ESPNU in a home contest against South Carolina on Sunday, Sept. 20. Next, the Tigers get into the grind of SEC play when they travel to Kentucky (Friday, Sept. 23) and Mississippi State (Sunday, Sept. 25). Both South Carolina and Kentucky earned NCAA Tournament bids in 2014, where both squads advanced to the Sweet 16.
Ole Miss comes to Walton Stadium on Friday, Oct. 2 before Mizzou heads to Baton Rouge, La., to face LSU on Friday, Oct. 9. The Tigers then return home on Sunday, Oct. 11 for a game against 2014 NCAA Tournament squad Georgia.
The Tigers return to ESPNU on Sunday, Oct. 18 in a matchup against Tennessee at Walton Stadium before hitting the road to take on Alabama (Friday, Oct. 23) and Vanderbilt (Sunday, Oct .25).
Mizzou concludes the regular season on Thursday, Oct. 29 when the squad hosts Texas A&M at Walton Stadium in a contest televised live on the SEC Network. The Aggies advanced to the College Cup semifinals a year ago and finished the 2014 season with a 22-2-2 record.
