Mizzou tennis junior Kelli Hine received the ITA Central Region Cissie Leary Award for Sportsmanship, as announced this morning by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA).

COLUMBIA, Mo. - Mizzou tennis junior Kelli Hine received the ITA Central Region Cissie Leary Award for Sportsmanship, as announced this morning by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA).

The New Braunfels, Texas native has continued to garner national recognition this offseason for her outstanding contributions on-and-off the court. In addition to today's ITA award, Hine has been named to the 2015 SEC Women's Tennis Community Service Team and to University of Missouri's Student Unions Programming Board "Unsung Hero" list.

In the local Columbia, Mo. community, Hine actively participates in numerous organizations. They include reading to elementary school kids, participating in Mizzou Moves events, member of Read-A-Thons, participant at the Susan G. Komen Race, volunteering at the Children's Hospital's Caleb's Pitch program and contributing to the Central Missouri Food Bank.

On the court, Hine evolved into the Tigers' No. 1 singles player and tallied three wins over nationally ranked opponents during the 2014-15 campaign.

"Kelli reflects the values of the Cissie Leary Sportsmanship Award in every way," head coach Sasha Schmid said. "I've been blessed to coach her for the past two years at Mizzou. Kelli is the heart of our team, and her work ethic is second to none. She's always the first person at the tennis facility and the last to leave. She sets the example for everyone on the team to follow on-and-off the court. Kelli has a very positive outlook on all aspects of life and encourages those around her constantly."
