COLUMBIA, Mo. - Seven Tiger Style grapplers were named to the 2015 Academic All-MAC wrestling team, as announced this morning by the Mid-American Conference league office.

Redshirt sophomore Cole Baumgartner, redshirt senior Johnny Eblen, sophomore Joey Lavallee, redshirt sophomore Matt Lemanowicz, redshirt freshman Willie Miklus, redshirt senior Ty Prazma and redshirt sophomore Zach Synon were all honored for their outstanding work in the classroom during the 2014-15 school year.

Eblen led Mizzou wrestling with a 4.000 GPA, as he pursues a post graduate degree in Positive Coaching. Baumgartner was not far behind with a 3.906 GPA in Mechanical Engineering, while Prazma also posted a strong 3.880 GPA in post graduate Positive Coaching coursework.

Rounding out the Tigers' seven recipients are Miklus (3.752 GPA, Psychology), Synon (3.458 GPA, Business Administration), Lavallee (3.439 GPA, Health Sciences) and Lemanowicz (3.434 GPA, Nutrition & Fitness and Mathematics).

In all, 35 student-athletes from MAC wrestling programs were named to this year's All-Academic team. Mizzou and Eastern Michigan each finished with seven honorees, tied for the most recipients among the nine conference teams.

The Academic All-MAC honor is for a student-athlete who has excelled in athletics and academics. To qualify, a student-athlete must have at least a 3.20 cumulative GPA and have participated in at least 50 percent of the contests for that particular sport. 

First-year students and junior college transfers in their first year of residence were not eligible for the award. Outstanding academic and athletic accomplishments for the current season were only considered.
